One of Christianity's biggest questions is: Why did God give us free will? He's the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-present God, so why did He not foresee that we (I mean, Adam and Eve - oops) would totally screw things up? He could have prevented all of this drama we still have to deal with a million years later, no? Well, the answer came to me this morning when I was reading Genesis 2 - which narrates the creation of man, and God's well-intentioned instruction that Adam and his wife should steer WELL clear of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. " You are free to eat from any tree in the garden, but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.
