Ever heard the saying, "Heaven helps those who help themselves?" Ever wondered where exactly that scripture can be found? No where. Because it was never written in the Bible!
There are many misconceptions about God and His Word. A very common one that often gets overlooked is: What it actually takes to make it to Heaven. What God's Word actually says and the message we - directly 0r indirectly - often hear being preached are two completely different things.
"Whosoever believes and is baptised will be saved..." (Matthew 16:16) : That's what the Word of God says.
But very often, I hear Christians ask questions like, "If God came right now and met me doing this, would I go to Heaven?", or "Oh, I don't want this thing to prevent me making Heaven, so I'm not going to do XYZ."
While choosing to live a life that makes God happy is honourable, and the absolute right thing to do, none of that is - by no means - what grants you access to Heaven when you die.
God's Word has been misunderstood, twisted and oftentimes, not even personally investigated. The Word of God is not a suggestion, theory or opinion: It is "God-breathed" (2 Timothy 3:16), whole and complete. It is what it says it is.
If the Word of God says when we truly believe and accept that Jesus is real and died out of love for you, and you are baptised, you gain entry into Heaven, why do we torture ourselves trying to work our way in through being "good people"?
"I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through me." (John 14:6)
Note: Not by being on your best behaviour 24/7, or being in pristine condition when Jesus comes back, or dying a saint - but simply by believing and making the choice to be baptised the same way Jesus was. Sound too good to be true? Maybe. But it's the truth God so desperately wants us all to know.
So, let's chuck out all the lies Satan tries to tell us about going to Heaven - it's a waste of our time. Jesus has won the battle over your life and mine, and we both have rooms being prepared for us in Heaven, right now. All we have to do is believe (John 14:2). Your works don't justify you; God's love and Jesus' blood already have.
Love,
Kunmi
