5 Lessons I've Learnt in My Walk With God (IV) | My Role as an Ambassador of Jesus Christ

This is a tough one. Becoming like Jesus is a life-long, continuous process. It requires being broken, submission, perseverance, pain, dedication and so much more. It's so easy to want to categorise things into: "my church life", "my work life", "my school life", "my social life", but what God really wants is for your WHOLE life to be open to Him.

Jesus wasn't one way when He was with the disciples and another when He was with the multitude; He was the same, all day, every day. This is what we, as His followers, should strive for - wherever we are, whomever we're with, and whatever we're doing.

We are called to live a life of ambassadorship. The dictionary defines an ambassador as "an accredited diplomat sent by a state as it's permanent representative in a foreign country".

*I would just like to pause at this point and pick apart a few of the words/phrases*

'Accredited':  We have been given authority and approval to act on behalf of the Kingdom of God. You have the power!

'Diplomat': "One who uses skill and tact in dealing with others." We have been instructed to share the gospel, not shout it, argue it or try and shove it down people's throats.

'Permanent representative': Essentially, it shouldn't be about when you feel like acting like Jesus. If we went according to that principle, we would only represent Him maybe twice a week. We should constantly reflect Christ. Treat people not the way they deserve to be treated, but the way Christ would treat them.

'Foreign country': We are IN this world but not OF the world. Remember: The Earth is not our home, we have merely been sent by God to do His will for a period of time. Our home is in Heaven.

Living like Jesus is not easy; even HE acknowledged that, and faced His own fair share of struggles. Before Jesus was arrested, beaten and crucified...

"He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done"... And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground." (Luke 22: 41 - 44)

But you know who was there to help Him? His Father, God. It's the same way He'll always be there to help you through this life-long journey, and pick you up when (not if - sorry) you fall! Your awesome, ever-faithful, totally-crazy-about-you Father in Heaven just wants you to ask.

Let's Talk About Time: Where is Yours Going?

I've come to a stage in my life where one of the top 3 things I am most passionate about is how I'm spending my time. Why? It's one of the greatest gift God has given us - and a lot of the time, truth be told, we squander it. How you spend your time is a reflection of what you really care about. When you find that hours on hours are lost on online shopping, scrolling through Instagram, watching your favourite series, complaining about everything that's wrong in your life, it shows that's where you're truly most invested. It's where your heart and your mind are. Aside from chasing our passions and 'living our best life', how often do we remember that we are called to much more? That our lives are not just for chasing pleasures and being comfy? That we were created neither to just pay the bills or make loads of money? What are you doing with your time? It's a question I now ask myself everyday. It's so important to me not to go thro...

Why We All Need To Stop Feeling Bad About Our Bad Habits

Growing as a Christian and getting rid of bad habits is hard. Growing up, I always struggled with a bad temper and angry outbursts. I was simultaneously a great lover (of people) and a great fighter (my secondary school friends can testify so well to this!). But around 19 years old, with determination in my heart and God’s ever-present help, I was able to contain my emotions relatively well and hardly lost my temper any longer.  All that time, I didn’t realise how much God had worked on my heart, until about a year ago, when I tweeted about my anger issues as a teen and a former colleague replied, “Really? I can’t even imagine you being angry, Kunmi.” I literally LOL-ed. Girrrl, if only you knew! But recently, I’ve had to face my demons again. There’s something about being in such an emotionally-invested situation like marriage that can sometimes bring out things that have long been buried in you, or things you never even knew were there. When I got married, I found that I ...

What Does it Really Mean to Have an 'Anointing'?

Isn't 'anointing' just one of those Christian words that tends to be used a lot but we generally don't really understand? I listened to a fantastic podcast by Joyce Meyer (Ministries) today, Don't Be Led By Your Head . Along with several amazing lessons I picked up from JM (who I looove ), she said something I believe everyone should know: an anointing is simply God's power and enablement in your life to do something. We all heard this word so much from our pastors, preachers and reverends growing up and it just seemed so fancy, no?! You think of 'the anointing' as this precious, fragile thing that only 'God's special people' (like those mentioned above) have access to... something so far from your reach. But do you know every Christian has the anointing of God in different ways and different things? Let me just clear something up: this doesn't have to be singing in church or being a home fellowship leader . You could have an anoint...
